More than 5,000 people attended the Night Festival "Light and Root" in Mérida.

Mérida, Yucatán. — Last Saturday night, the Central Park of the city transformed into a spectacle of lights, music, and immersive experiences during the first edition of the Night Festival Light and Root, an event that brought together more than 5,000 attendees.
The festival, organized by the cultural collective Horizonte Vivo, aimed to celebrate local identity through digital art and Yucatecan traditions. Starting at 6:00 p.m., families, young people, and tourists began to fill the venue to enjoy a program that included architectural mapping, interactive installations, and live musical performances.
One of the most anticipated moments was the projection show on the facade of the old municipal palace, where the history of the city was narrated through animations synchronized with original music composed for the event. The audience responded with applause and ovations at the end of each segment.
In addition, more than 40 local entrepreneurs participated in the food and craft corridor, offering everything from reinterpreted traditional dishes to contemporary design pieces inspired by Mayan elements.
The event director, Mariana Castillo, emphasized that the intention is to make Light and Root an annual tradition. “We want to create a space where technological innovation interacts with our cultural roots,” she commented during the inauguration.
The festival concluded near midnight with a concert of electronic music blended with regional sounds, closing a day that left a significant economic impact for nearby businesses and a memorable experience for the attendees.
The organizers confirmed that they are already working on the second edition, which promises to expand to more venues within the historic center.
